The Role of Research & Development
The general public and patients receiving addiction treatment services and professionals providing the same have distinct and important needs that are not being fully met by other state, national or international organizations.
California is unique in that there are more addiction professionals and patients than anywhere else in the nation.
California's addiction profession is also the most underdeveloped and substandard regards to research and development specific to the CA market.
Needs Statements
- General educational materials on the importance of quality of care, targeted to practicing professionals, other health professions, the public, the media and policymakers;
- Independently produced educational materials specific to CA;
- Public and continuing professional education activities that enhance quality of care;
- Information sharing and networking activities to promote and inform the public on CA specific workforce Development and Research and Development issues.
- Diversion (Peer Support Program)
- Demographic and other information, including trend data, relating to the provision of the addiction workforce.
- Resources such as treatment locator to assist individuals seeking services.
